Navigation
- Always check with Wind & Weather forecast before launching any boats. Select boats that meet your skill level and the wind/wave conditions on the Bayou.
- Sign out your boats at the boathouse.
- If your boat is Coxless, bow seat must wear a mirror
- If rowing after sunset, mount navigation lights on the boat.
- When rowing with a group, always determine and confirm the course endpoint with each rower before leaving the dock.
- Traffic Rules on the course are of utmost importance for the safety of all rowers. When outbound, stay on the starboard side of the Bayou. (green arrows)
- Stop rowing at every major turn in the Bayou to check that you have a clear line of rowing (ie no obstacles, other boats, people fishing)
- When the first rower reaches the course destination, move your boat to the Port side of the Bayou and continue to face the incoming rowers. Guide them verbally about shore hazards and your location.
- When all rowers arrive, turn all boats for the Inbound row. When In-bound or returning to the boathouse, stay on the starboard side of the Bayou (red arrows)
- Stop rowing at every major turn in the Bayou to check that you have a clear line of rowing (ie no obstacles, other boats, people fishing)
